Sausage Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 500 g ground pork
  • 1/2 onion, chopped finely
  • 1 small zucchini, grated
  • 1 small carrot, grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 6 sheets puff pastry
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seed (optional)


Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C
  2. In a large bowl combine mince meat, vegetables, garlic, tomato sauce, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, pepper, parsley.
  3. Cut each puff pastry in half. Place a log of sausage mixture in centre of each half, brush edges with egg mixture and roll to seal.
  4. Brush sausage roll with egg wash and sprinkle with poppy seeds.
  5. Cut each log into 4 pieces.
  6. Transfer to baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 25 min or until golden brown.
